Skills for a Better You

DBT is an evidenced-based treatment that teaches skills to help you learn how to better manage intense emotions, cope with stress, improve your relationships, and increase mindfulness. It focuses on acceptance AND change, helping you to tolerate difficult situations while at the same time working toward positive change.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the basis for all DBT skills. In order to be skillful you must be mindful. Mindfulness skills will teach you how to be present in the current moment, how to manage your “thinking” thoughts and how to tap into your inner self to become more knowing.

Distress Tolerance

How do you react to the stress in your daily life? Do you have the tools you need to take a step back and evaluate? Distress Tolerance skills teach you how to manage when crisis arises.

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Interpersonal Effectiveness skills can help you communicate more clearly, assert yourself respectfully, and set healthy boundaries whether with a friend, partner, or coworker. These skills empower you to navigate conflict, say “no” when needed, and maintain both self-respect and meaningful connections.
